Psalm 103:15-18
As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children's children,
To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.
James 4:14 - Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
We need to wait on God and His timing because this earth will pass away even faster than we expect.
I love the last phrase of Psalm 103:18. It says that God is merciful to those who remember His commands to do them. Not just remember, but do! Read this verse:
James 4:17 - Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Did you get that? Knowing the right thing to do is sin. We can't go through life avoiding doing wrong; we need to do right. Otherwise, it is still sin.
How often do we remember this? I know that I often forget and tend to think that as long as I am not as bad as some people, I'm all right.
I am not 'all right'.
I need to do my absolute best, but that can only be done through God's mercy and power. Otherwise, I know that I would fail miserably.
However, God will forgive us when we do mess up.
Psalm 130:4 - But there is forgiveness with You.
Psalm 86:5 - For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant on mercy to all those who call upon You.
Ephesians 1:7 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
We must try with God's help to do our best, but always remember:
God Will Forgive.
