giveaway winners

Hello, lovelies! I trust that you all are having a delightful autumn afternoon. My fall so far has consisted of apple picking, sweater wearing, messy buns, making popcorn in brown paper bags, homework, listening to the Isaacs, more homework, getting a cold, and reading Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes. What have you been doing?

Well, I have a winner for the Lismi Knits giveaway! The winner of the yarn is...

Grace Shaffer!

The winner of the pattern is...

Christine Lima!

Congratulations, ladies!

In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

giveaway // lismi knits

I hope that you are all enjoying your fall so far. I know that one of my favorite things about fall is knitting. When the leaves start to change colors and the temperatures drop, my desire to knit grows, and I know that many of you feel the same way. That is why I am hosting this giveaway today!

// Etsy shop // Facebook //

Lismi Knits, owned by Christiane Burkhard, is a delightful shop full of knitting patterns, scarves, yarn, and beautiful colors. Here's a peek:

I absolutely love looking through all of the yarn-y goodness in Christiane's shop!
I am so glad that Christiane was so kindly willing to sponsor this giveaway. She was very prompt and sweet in her replies to me. Thank you so much, Christiane!

Guess what? TWO of you lucky readers will be able to win today's giveaway! One winner will get to choose the knitting pattern of their choice while the other will win the skein of yarn of their choice. Make sure to give Christiane some following love to thank her for this.

This giveaway will run until September 26 at 12:00 a.m. The winner will be announced here on the blog and contacted by e-mail shortly thereafter.

EDIT: Christiane is willing to ship internationally, so you can win the yarn even if you live outside of the U.S.

instead

i sit by my window, watching the storm, reveling in the wild beauty of it all. Lightning fills the sky for a moment while peals of thunder fill the humid air. Raindrops pound on the roof and window in a soothing rhythm.

I am filled with a yearning, one coming from someplace deep within me, to run outside and join the wind, to jump in the puddles, to let the rain soak my skin, to feel the electricity in the air after a flash of lightning.

Instead, I sit and watch from inside my safe little house, amazed by God's power.

Nine hours in the van to get here, but it was worth it.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
We mixed dropping my older sister Abbie off at college with a family camping trip.

Our time consisted of:
Chick-fil-a (we don't have any in Maine)
playground trains
teeter totter competitions
swimming
visiting Litiz, America's coolest small town (I can see why)
chocolate chip pancakes
an Amish mud sale, complete with barefooted little girls and freshly made donuts
cornfield sunsets
more swimming
a pop-up camper and a tent
taking turns washing dishes
playing smule on my dad's ipad (it's the best)
buying yarn at a local yarn shop (it's my one weakness)
kettle corn
laughter
messy hair
campfires

I have a lot of thoughts rolling around in my head that I am eager to share with you, but I just haven't had the time with school starting up again.Until then, I suggest you read Shine and Soar's article if you are having a hard time finding your motivation to begin this year.

Until next time,
Emily.
