iced tea and houndstooth

i don't know about you, but here the weather has been gorgeous. yesterday and today we left science class at school to go for a little walk. i spent yesterday afternoon doing homework and reading sitting in a rocking chair on our porch. today i sat on a large rock, drank iced tea, and read emma {side note: i'm almost done. today i read the proposal scene. oh.my.goodness. i love mr. knightley!!!!!!!!!!! sorry. i coudln't help it}.

it was lovely. after a really busy week last week, this week is much more relaxed, so i can enjoy this beautiful weather.

yesterday i wore my new houndstooth skirt that i bought at goodwill for $5.

and it has pockets!!

i was wearing a white turtleneck sweater with it, and at one point someone asked me why i was so dressed up and one of my friends replied, "she's always dressed up." it made me smile.

yesterday i walked down to the stream behind our house. the water level was pretty high, and i got some lovely bokeh.

what is your weather like right now?

do you live near a stream?

  1. It is just gorgeous where I live too. Normally there is snow still on the ground, but it is in the 70s (which is high for this time of year) :)

  2. It is still reasonably warm where I live, but it is usually warmer cause we have just finished summer and our summers are usually REALLY hot! : )

  4. Emma is one of my absolute favorite books ever (only second to Anne of Green Gables), and Mr. Knightly is my favorite male book character.

    Beautiful pictures!

Our weather this week has been amazing, anywhere from 75-85 degrees every day this week. Unfortunately I don't live near a stream, I live in a little town, but if I did, I'm sure I would love it :)

  6. It's been in the upper 70's, lower 80's here in Alabama lately :) It's been lovely though.
Yes! We have a lovely little stream behind our house, and we LOVE it. It's very peaceful down there.

  7. Ha! I'm always dressed up too :-) It's sometimes awkward when I go twirling through walmart or the grocers with a skirt, and shirt that actually MATCHES, and earrings as well, whilst everyone else looks either like they've just climbed out of bed, or they're a bunch of hippies. Sorry- didn't mean to preach :-) Anyways, just thought I'd put my two cents in.

    1. Oh, yes. That's one thing that bugs me about going to public school - so many people look like they rolled out of bed and hopped on the bus. I quite agree with, m'dear!

      Blessings,
      Emily.
