Our second giveaway is sponsored by:
Reni from Knit Girl in Idaho! Knit Girl in Idaho sells a huge variety of stitch markers for both knitting and crocheting as well as stitch marker storage tins. Reni was kind enough to answer my questions so that we could learn more about her and her Etsy shop!
I have been married for 25 years and have two teenage boys. My oldest is about to start his second year of college and my youngest will be a sophomore in high school. Aside from the Knit Girl shop, I also keep busy doing the bookkeeping and taxes for another business my husband and I own together. This business has been in my family for over 75 years, and my husband & I purchased it from my parents in 1993 when they retired.
I opened my Etsy shop, Knit Girl in Idaho, in October 2009. Being an avid knitter, I spend a lot of time on Ravelry. I initially started making stitch markers for myself and for fun, but I also enjoyed giving them away to my Ravelry friends who eventually encouraged me to open up an Etsy shop. I haven't looked back!
There are a few knock-offs out there, but my stitch markers are the ORIGINAL of their kind! I specialize in personalized & novelty stitch markers using pictures, personal designs, logos & short phrases. Along with my keepsake personalized stitch markers, you can also find my signature Knit Girl & Yarn Snob line of stitch markers, as well as my newest lines of mini charms and removable crochet stitch markers.
I feel honored and humbled to have had my stitch markers featured in four magazines: Interweave's 2011 Jane Austen Knits, Interweave's 2012 Spring issue of Spin-Off, May 2012 issue of Knit Today, and the Summer 2012 issue of Interweave Crochet. My custom stitch markers are also being sold at The Loopy Ewe (www.loopyewe.com), which is a fantastic online retailer.
I am also an official sponsor for Stitch Red (www.stitchred.com). I sell an exclusive Stitch Red stitch marker that I give 50% from each sale directly to The Heart Truth. The campaign is driving efforts to draw attention to heart disease, the #1 killer of women in the United States, help people understand their risk factors for the disease and encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyles to protect their heart health. In 2011, I opened a second Etsy shop exclusively for wine charms because I have a lot of friends and family who do not knit but wanted some of my charms. My wedding wine charms are extremely popular right now!
