How to Make a Blog Button

I thought I would make a page about this because I had someone ask me how to make a blog button, and I had no idea how to make one for a while and I would have appreciated a page like this before I found someone to ask.

Ashlyn over at This Wonderful Life and Francesca from The Musings of a Photographer started a blog design blog called Creatively YOU. I contacted them about how to make a blog button, and here is the very helpful e-mail that I received:

So first of all, You need to open up your photo in any photo editing place to add text. I use Picnik. Then you need to resize it, or crop it to the size you want. A good starting place is 200x200 px, or something like that. Expirement with it. Just so it fits everybodys side bar. The hardest part is actually just deciding the theme of the button and what "looks right"!

After that, open the saved photo file in Photobucket. My friend uses imgur, some people use Flickr. I can't get the flickr to work so I just use PhotoBucket. It's free. After you upload it,
paste this code in a HTML/Java Script Box in your sidebar:

<a href="PasteBlogURlhere"><img src="PasteDIRECTLINKForPhotoHere" /></a>

In photobucket, when you pull your mouse up on your picture, it will say "Email and IM." "HTML" and "direct Link." Copy the code for the DIRECT LINK. It will not work unless you do so.
Paste it in the slots for where it says Direct Link in the code. Then place your URL where it says to as well.

Save it, and you have a button. :)

(By the way, I couldn't get the Flickr link to work, either.)
