what i wore // fishtail

skirt // gift {tj maxx, maybe?}
shirt // marden's
jacket // hand-me-down
black dress shoes // kohl's

so, i love this skirt. it is floor length, full, has "good spinners", as my little sisters would say, and has cool patterns on it. i call it my hippie skirt. it's actually so long that at school that when i go up or down the stairs i have to gather it up in my hands so that no one behind me steps on it.

sitting on and jumping off of broken swingset = lots of fun.

i finally figured out how to make a fishtail look good. pardon the windblown look in these photos - this was near the end of the day.

do you know how to fishtail?

happy wednesday, everyone!

sunflare and boots

i wore this outfit a few weeks ago, but i thought i would share it with you all.

{aren't tripods fun?}

gray sweater: hand-me-down
teal shirt: old navy
purple skirt: burlington coat factory
gray boots: hand-me-down

yes, i did wear high heeled boots in maine's weird snow/mud season...wouldn't you? :P

for my hair, i just braided the two front sections a little bit and bobby pinned them back. {did you know that you're supposed to use bobby pins with the bumpy side down?}

and now, i couldn't not include some of the sun flare that i captured:

do you ever wear high heeled boots in the winter?

Fall Fashion Days 4 and 5

Hello, all!

Right now I am very excited because tomorrow is Veteran's Day and we don't have school. :) Yay! And I got a 100% on my vocab quiz. Happiness!

So, on to the Fall Fashion Challenge. Yesterday's challenge was to dress like your favorite era. I must admit that I really do not know much about the fashion from other eras. Yes, I can spot things like look like they came from the '50s, '60s, etc., but not well enough to really pick an outfit! So, I just kind of went hippy-Bohemian just a little. I actually had someone tell me that I looked like a hippy. :) To see better pics of the shirt, you can see the pics in this post.

Shirt: Made by me
Pants: Hand-me-down
Earrings: Made by me

I procrastinated and did not memorize a verse yesterday. Sorry!

Now for today...

I did not get good pics of this outfit, but oh, well. Today's challenge was to wear polka dots or another print (for the record, I thought it was your favorite fall trend day. So I wore plaid. Otherwise I would have worn polka dots...).

Plaid shirt: JCPenney
Gray Skirt: Goodwill
White t-shirt: Walmart
Earrings: Made by me

There is a giveaway going on over here.

Today I memorized:

Ephesians 4:24:
And to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Happy Thursday!

My new {handmade} shirt

Hello, everyone!

Today for the Scripture Memorization Challenge I memorized:

Ephesians 6:10-13
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this ago, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Now for the Fall Fashion Challenge. Today's challenge was to wear bold tights. However, I realized that the only people in my house who own tights are my five, three, and less than a year old younger sisters. So, I wore patterned knee socks instead. :)

Shirt: Hand-me-down
Tank top: Old Navy (I am wearing it backwards)
Denim Skirt: Made by Me
Argyle Knee Socks: Goodwill (no worries, they were brand new :P)

Today I made this shirt:

I had started it earlier with my sister Lydia, but today I hemmed up everything and made a belt. It is basically a rectangle with sleeves and a neck hole with a strip of material tied around it. It is made out of a jersey-knit material so it is nice and stretchy, not to mention really comfortable. :)

So, the lighting was good, I liked the shirt, and I had some free time. So, I had a little photoshoot with myself. :) Hello, tripod!

Silly powerlines...I kind of look like I'm sniffing them. :P

Happy Tuesday!

p.s. i am really happy because we have no school on Friday thanks to Veterans Day. *smiles*

Fall Fashion Days 1 & 2

Hey, everyone! I am so sorry that I haven't posted much lately. I've been pretty busy and just didn't have a chance. Sorry!

Now, on to the Fall Fashion Challenge. Yesterday did not have a challenge to apply to your outfit. I was not able to get a photo of me wearing my outfit yesterday, but I got a photo of my outfit by itself:

Sweater: Hand-me-down
Skirt: Goodwill

Today's outfit challenge was to wear two colors that are not often put together. I thought of pink and green, but I wear those colors together a lot anyway. I decided to wear brown and black:

Sweater and skirt: hand-me-downs {Being a large family, people give us a lot of clothes. :) }
Please pardon the mess in the background! Everything looks messier in a photo than it does it real life...
You can also see my post on the Week in Feminine Dress blog here.

Now for the Scripture Memorization Challenge. Between yesterday and today, I memorized:

Ephesians 4:1-6:
I, therefor, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

This afternoon I baked Crumb Cake (see recipe and photos here). I tasted really good. :)

What did you do today?

What I Wore and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Today I am linking up to Miss Johanna's Autumn Fashion and Giveaway post. Here is the outfit I am wearing today:

Shirt: Camp Good News, a Christian camp that I have attended pretty much all of my life.
Skirt: Hand-me-down
Purple sash (you can't really see it in this photo): made by me
Earrings: made by me
Barette: Christmas gift

Francesca is holding a 50 Followers giveaway here.

You all should go and link up to this week's challenge at 3 Photographers Adventure. I don't have a photo yet, but I hope to link up soon! This week there will be a winner. Maybe it will be you!

Yesterday I memorized 1 Corinthians 15:2-4. I memorized 1 Corinthians 15:1 the day before, and I will be typing up the whole passage below.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which you are saved if you hold fast the word which I preacher to you - unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

Happy Saturday!

Fall Fashion Day and Days 18, 19, and 20

There is one last Fall Fashion Day going on here:

Here is my outfit:

Plaid Shirt: JCPenney. I paid $18 for this shirt, and that's about the most I have ever spent on one shirt. :)
Dress Pants: Hand-me-down
Argyle shoes: Payless

I apologize for not posting yesterday or the day before, but I didn't have time yesterday and on Tuesday I auditioned for the district chorus {which I made, by the way. :) }

So, on to the 31-Day Challenge.

Day 18 - A Photo Experimenting with Water Puddles

I didn't have any photos of water puddles and we don't have any puddles here, but this is water, so I figured it was close enough. :)

I am also entering this photo in Ashlyn's photo challenge. The theme is sooc - straight out of camera.

Day 19 - A Photo of Whatever You Want

I was editing this photo

And I couldn't decide which edit I liked best. Which is your favorite?
(Oh, and I edited all of these on Picnik)

#1

edits done: boost, cinema scope with out letterbox

#2

edits done: boost, 1960's

#3

Day 20 - A Photo Involving a Tree

This photo makes me laugh. My sister was putting her shawl on during our photoshoot (see my post on that here) and it got caught on some little branches and then she almost fell down the little hill behind her.

How was your Thursday?

Day 13 and Fall Fashion

Day 13 - A Photo Experimenting with Bokeh

Sorry. I know this isn't bokeh, but I have never really been able to take a photo with good bokeh. So, I went with macro photography. :)

The linky isn't working on the latest Fall Fashion Post over at Grace's Garden Walk, but here is my outfit anyway:

Please pardon the mess in the background - this was taken in my little sister's room.

Shirt: Goodwill
Tank Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Made by Me from a hand-me-down pair of jeans.

Here is another look at my skirt:

My sister (the one with the messy room) and I made this skirt a while ago. We based it off of Ashley's skirt in this post over at Bramblewood Fashion. I wear it all the time because it goes with everything! It didn't take us very long to make this; the hardest part was the pinning in the back.

There is a giveaway going on here:

Photobucket

This is the lovely prize:

Isn't it so cute and funky? I just love hair accessories. :)
