"the night was clear and frosty, all ebony of shadow and silver of snowy slope; big stars were shining over the silent fields; here and there the dark pointed firs stood up with snow powdering their branches and the wind whistling through them."

what i wore // favorite

sweater // my mom's
skirt // burlington coat factory
scarf // marden's

this is probably one of my favorite skirts. i can pair it with neutral and brightly colored tops. it goes with pretty much everything. plus, i can wear leggings under it on cold days without anyone noticing. *smile* oh, and it has sparkles...

what about you? do you have a favorite item of clothing?

what i wore // sweater

sweater // christmas gift
skirt // burlington coat factory
necklace // gift
shoes // goodwill

the weather is cooling down here, but i still want to wear skirts a lot. so, i wear leggings. does anyone else do this?
this skirt is probably one of my most comfortable skirts. it has some stretch to it so that i can still move around, but it is long and has nice stitching and a good color.

do you have a favorite, go-to skirt?

what i wore // cowl

dress // goodwill
cowl // made by me
shoes // hand-me-down

i wore this on sunday, which was a fairly warm day for october, so i decided to go without socks or a sweater. i bought this dress at goodwill at the beginning of the summer, and i love it. not only is it my favorite color, but it is ultra-comfy. and handknits are always best, right? oh, and in the background? a shed being built in our yard. exciting stuff. to store our stuff.

hugs,
emily.

what i wore // sailor

cardigan // made by me
blouse // hand-me-down
skirt // made by me
bobby pin // an etsy shop {i think it was chrome and cotton}

Whenever I wear this outfit, I am told that I remind someone of a sailor. Well, that works out well since I am linking up to Sarah and Samantha's fashion event and one of the day's themes in nautical.

So, I would like you all to know that I now have my driver's license! {for those unfamiliar with Maine's license system: you take driver's education, take a written test for your permit, drive for 35 hours and record them all, take a driving test, then, if you pass, you get your license}. I am very excited that I can now drive myself places. By myself. *smile*

I hope you lovely people have a fantastic day!
Hugs,
Emily.

what i wore // purple

sweater // kohl's
skirt // hand-me-down

I have had this skirt for a few years, but I could never find anything to wear with it. It's too white to wear a white shirt with it, but I never had anything in the right shade of brown or gray. Once I got this sweater, though, I knew that this would make a great early fall and late spring outfit.

What have you been wearing lately?

what i wore // hong kong

This dress that I ordered online came from Hong Kong. The material is really comfortable and good for summer. The patterns are really cool, plus I like long dresses. And my hair? It was in a bun yesterday and last night and that is exactly how it looked when I took it out. It made me kinda a little bit happy. My hair is always stick straight.

dress // amazon.com
tank top // old navy
sandals // payless

Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Remember, what you do after a victory is as important as what you did leading up to the victory.

what i wore // purple and pink

black jacket // hand-me-down
pink shirt // hand-me-down {target maybe?}
gray cowl // made by me
purple skirt // burlington coat factory
socks // gift
shoes // kohl's

i decided to use an embroidery hoop as an interesting prop. it's really hard to get a camera to focus on something while using a self timer, in case you all hadn't tried it. :)

i took advantage of a brief lull in the rain to snap these photos. we've had rain for these past few days, but we really need it.

is it raining where you live?

what i wore // fishtail

skirt // gift {tj maxx, maybe?}
shirt // marden's
jacket // hand-me-down
black dress shoes // kohl's

so, i love this skirt. it is floor length, full, has "good spinners", as my little sisters would say, and has cool patterns on it. i call it my hippie skirt. it's actually so long that at school that when i go up or down the stairs i have to gather it up in my hands so that no one behind me steps on it.

sitting on and jumping off of broken swingset = lots of fun.

i finally figured out how to make a fishtail look good. pardon the windblown look in these photos - this was near the end of the day.

do you know how to fishtail?

happy wednesday, everyone!

what i wore // red stripes

lately i have really been enjoying this nice spring weather. i get to wear summer skirts which is always fun. i would say that warm weather makes me bring out my sandals, but since i have been known to walk to church in sandals when there is at least six inches of snow on the ground, that's not necessarily true. *smiles*.

what i wore
navy blue shirt // goodwill {originally old navy}
tank top // christmas tree shops
skirt // made by me
earrings // claire's

i made this skirt in my fashion and fabrics class {which is over, sadly}. i tried to follow a tutorial, but it was confusing because i could only print out the words, not the pictures, so it was confusing. thus, i made it up as i went along.

last night i made an anklet out of red and blue baker's twine. i really like how it turned out!

what have you been making or wearing lately?

p.s. make sure to check out my blog next week. :)
