run the race

1 Corinthians 9:24, 27

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it...
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

I have often heard and read that first verse, been told that the Christian life is a marathon race that requires training. But I had never really taken a look at the second verse. I need to continue training. I will never reach a point in my life here on earth in which there is no room for improvement in how I run. I cannot grow lax in my training and practice. If I don't, I can't really help others learn how to run because I am not running correctly.

Just a few thoughts on this Wednesday evening.

1 Corinthians

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:9

The foolishness of God is wiser than men;
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Corinthians 1:25

And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
1 Corinthians 3:23

psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
therefore we will not fear,
even though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
though its waters roar and be troubled,
though the mountains shake with its swelling...

what i wore // hong kong

This dress that I ordered online came from Hong Kong. The material is really comfortable and good for summer. The patterns are really cool, plus I like long dresses. And my hair? It was in a bun yesterday and last night and that is exactly how it looked when I took it out. It made me kinda a little bit happy. My hair is always stick straight.

Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Remember, what you do after a victory is as important as what you did leading up to the victory.

stillness

Water splashes. Dragonfly wings buzz. Water bugs skim the water's surface, creating ripples that interrupt the clear reflections on the water. Sun shines onto the water, making it sparkle.
I breathe deeply, listening. Bible verses flow through my mind like water over a waterfall. I can just feel a prayer this morning.
Stillness reigns.

"Be still and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10

Romans 6:10-11

For the death that He {Jesus Christ} died, He died to sin once for all;

But the life that He lives, He lives to God.

Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin,

but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
