What I Wore and Good-bye for now!

Tomorrow, my family and I will be heading up north to spend Thanksgiving with your family. I will not be posting while I am there, but I do have a few scheduled posts for you all. :)

For now, I would like to share some photos that I took yesterday.

One of my friends gave me this super comfy flannel for my birthday. :)

This is what I wore to school yesterday. :) I kind of felt like a hick Pippi Longstocking...

If you couldn't tell, I really like tripods and camera timers...:)

Quotes

I am continuing with the Scripture Memorization Challenge. Today I memorized the first verse of a passage that I will be working on over the next few days. I memorized:

1 Corinthians 15:1
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand.

I was looking through my notebook and found some quotes that I had written down from when I read Uncle Tom's Cabin this summer. I thought I would share them with you. :)

"Gals is pecular; they never does nothin' ye thinks they will, mose gen'lly the contrar. Gals is nat'lly made contrary." - Sam

" 'I'm in the Lord's hands,' said Tom, 'nothin' can go no furder than He lets it.' "

"We does for the Lord when we does for his critturs." - Uncle Tom

"Now is all the time I have anything to do with." - Miss Ophelia

" 'God only knows the future,' said St. Clare. 'I am braver than I was because I have lost all; and he who has nothing to lose can afford all risks.' "

And now a few photography quotes:

"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence." - Ansel Adams

"You don't take a photograph; you make it." - Ansel Adams

"If you're photographing in color you know the color of their clothes. If you use black and white, you will show the color of their soul." - Unknown

There are a couple giveaways going on here and here. Also, there will be a giveaway over at Discover Life. It will be on Saturday. Ashlyn would like to have 100 followers by then. If she doesn't, the giveaway will still be on, but she would love to have 100. She currently has 93. Go on over at follow!

Also, Raquel will be hosting a giveaway once she reaches 500 followers. Right now she has 490. Just 10 more!

Sunday

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Right now I am using my sister's laptop, so I don't have any of the photos that I took yesterday. :( Oh, well. I will probably post them later on today or tomorrow.

I know that I have posted this photo before, but I wanted to enter it into Rachel's Photo Contest. The theme is Autumn Colors.

There is going to be a giveaway over at God's Daughter once Raquel reaches 500 followers. She only needs 32 more followers! Go on over and check out her blog and perhaps become a follower! (to view a preview of the prizes, go here)

Today because of the snow, our church services have been cancelled. I plan on spending a portion of my day crafting and taking photos of my crafts and the snow. I will be sure and share some of the photos I take with you all later.

What do you plan on doing with your Sunday?

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Catching up on the 31-Day Challenge:

Day 21 - A Photo of a Sunset

I am ashamed. I couldn't find any sunset photos! *gasp*

I know. It's sad.

But hey, I have a sunrise photo! It's pretty close...

Day 22 - A Photo of a Person you Love

I love this little munchkin. And I love Tangled. Chloe got this doll for her birthday. :)

I found a great quote here. Here is the quote:

He's not perfect. You aren't either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn't going to quote poetry, he's not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don't hurt him, don't change him, and don't expect more than he can give. Don't analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he's not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don't exist, but there's always one guy that is perfect for you.

- Bob Marley

Awww!!! I love quotes like that. :)

I thought that I would share some lovely, fall-ish recipes with you all.

(isn't Pinterest a lovely thing?)

Pumpkin Spice and Pecan Cake

Old Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

This recipe isn't really connected to fall, but it looks delicious anyway. :)

Peppermint Stick Cocoa

Again, not really a fall recipe, but everyone loves cocoa and peppermint, right?

What would you all think of a recipe link-up? I would write about something that I baked/cooked, including the recipe, and have a linky in the post. You could then write up a post with a recipe and link it up. Would people be interested in this?

Have a good Saturday!

Hodge Podge Wednesday

Today is Day 12 of the 31-Day Challenge. You can see the first post about this challenge here.

Day 12 - A Photo Edit You Like

I know that this was Lily's edit, but Cinema Scope really is one of my favorite editing effects.

Kelsey over at A Ray of Sunshine is holding a photo contest. The theme is unedited.

I really don't often edit every photo. Usually when I do I just brighten or sharpen it up a little bit. Often, I took a photo because I really liked how it looked when I took it. So I leave it. Plus, with how many photos I  typically take at one time, it would take a looong time to edit them all!

Over at God's Daughter, Raquel is holding a giveaway. There will be two winners. The two prizes are two of Francesca Battistelli's CD's.

I am entering to win this CD.

Go on over and enter!

Hayden over at The Story Girl had a really amazing post today!!!!! It is called "The Problem of Pain" and it really puts into words what I feel. You should go over and read it! And leave a comment if you like it. :)

Right now I am really loving sweaters! These are some really pretty ones that I want to knit:

Which one do you like best?

Happy Wednesday!

Simple Pleasures

Simple and understated, yet still beautiful.

So many things in life go by unnoticed or unappreciated, but their beauty still exists and is evident if you are looking for it.

Take time to enjoy the simple pleasures. If you spend all of your time waiting for the big things, you will miss so much.

Today I thought I would share with you all some of the simple pleasures that I enjoy.

Black and White Photographs.

I think i have shared this quote before, but it just suits this:

"Life is like a good black and white photograph. There's black, there's white, and lots of shades in between." -Karl Heiner

Singing alto.

In case any of you aren't music geeks and don't know what that means, I will explain it. Singing alto means singing harmony. The soprano part is the melody, or the main tune of the song. The alto part is usually comprised of lower notes that add depth to music that would otherwise not be there if only the soprano part was sung. I love it because it is simple and often unnoticed but still important and sounds beautiful when done well.

Smiles.

It is amazing how powerful anyone, even a stranger, can brighten your day by a smile.

"Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter." -Ansel Adams

Shelves of Books.

I love to sit in libraries and be inspired by all of the books around me. It also reminds me of how many books I want to read. Actually, I first wrote this post while sitting in my school library.

Entering this photo in Raquel's photo contest.
Subtle Texture and Color.

Especially in yarn.
When I first pick up a skein of some kinds of yarn, you don't see all of the little color changes, but watching them develop while knitting is delightful.

"If your pictures aren't good, you're not close enough." - Robert Capa

What are some simple things that you enjoy?

Oh, and about Raquel's photo contest. I couldn't get the button to work, but you can click on the words "photo contest" and go see the challenge. The theme is books. I hope my photo is alright to enter!
