I've Been Awarded The...

Stylish blogger award!

I was very excited when I got tagged because this is my first tag. :)

Now I have to tell you 7 random facts about me:

1. I used to be homeschooled, but now I go to the public high school.
2. I am a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada.
3. I have been knitting since I was about 10.
4. My favorite Christmas movie is "It's a Wonderful Life" {which I am really excited to watch since it is now past Thanksgiving and officially the Christmas season}.
5. I randomly sing pretty much all the time and I have a song for almost any occasion.
6. I love funky socks {hey, if I have to wear socks and shoes instead of sandals, they might as well be cool socks}.
7. Sometimes I wear socks with flip-flops and one time I wore Christmas toe socks with flip-flops in the middle of July. Oh, yes. :)

Here are the five lovely bloggers that I am tagging:

1. Lizzie - you can check out her three blogs herehere, and here.

2. Gabby who is currently renaming her blog and the new name has not yet been revealed. Her blog used to be called An Ambitious Homemaker.

Thanks, Lily, for tagging me!

Edit: I was tagged again! This time by Hayden from Story Girl. Thanks so much!

p.s. there is a lovely giveaway going on here at An Old-Fashioned Girl.

Hodge-Podge

Today this is going to be a rather hodge-podge post. There are several photo contests and giveaways going on, so that will be the main part of my post today. :)

First, I need to catch up on the 31-Day Challenge. I am doing this with Lily over at Belle Fleur Photography.

Day 2 - A Photo of What You Wore Today

Shirt: Goodwill // Tank Top: Old Navy // Skirt: Made by my sister and I // Necklace and Earrings: Made by Me

Day 3 - A Photo From a High Angle

I figured this would count as a photo from a high angle.

Next, Katie over at Hello Highlights is hosting a biweekly photo contest called iLove. My entry is this:

I love knitting. :)

Now for the giveaways:

First off is Tatertots and Jello. The winner will receive any one woman's item and any one girl's item from Downeast Basics Online Store, There are so many lovely clothing items in the shop!

Second, we have Giveaways of Blessing. The winner will receive this lovely rose ring! I am in love with it. :)

Last we have Grace's Garden Walk/An Old Fashioned Girl. Miss Johanna, the lovely author of An Old-Fashioned Girl was hosting an Autumn Frolic, but then her blog was somehow deleted! So now the lovely Miss Grace of Grace's Garden Walk is hosting the Autumn Frolic over at her blog. So, I am entering the giveaway over there. Go on over and enter or, even better, visit Miss Johanna's blog and leave her a sweet comment!

Well, that's it for giveaways! Go on over and check them out!

I made a couple pairs of earrings yesterday afternoon. I have not had a chance to take any photos yet, but you will all know as soon as I do. :)

How was your weekend?

Do you have any crafting projects going on right now?

Crumb Cake

This cake is, by far, my family's favorite dessert. It is sort of like a spice cake. It's from an old war recipe handed down through my family. It's amazing!

This recipe originally made a smaller pan, but we always double it so there's enough to go around. Here I am sharing the doubled recipe.

I thought I would share the recipe with you all. Here it is:

Crumb Cake

Directions:
Mix:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
2 tsp. salt
Rub together as for pie crust with a fork or pastry blender.
Save 1 cup crumbs to sprinkle on top of cake later.
Add:
2 cups sour milk
1 tsp. each of baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla.
Mix. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle crumbs evenly on top of cake.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 30 minutes.

Enjoy!

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I hope you're all having a great day!

Note: I am re-posting this to enter in Miss Johanna and Miss Grace's Walk Through the Orchard.
